Health Benefits of Noni Fruit - Noni Juice Benefits
Health Benefits of Noni Fruit (Noni Juice)
Noni fruit is a yellow fruit from the Morinda citrifolia tree grown in Southeast Asia, Australia, India and the Pacific Islands. The noni roots, stem, bark, leaves, flowers and fruit has been used for medicinal purposes. Traditionally, noni has been used to treat the common cold, bacterial infections, fevers, and gastrointestinal problems.
Noni is the most widely used medicinal Polynesian plant prior to the arrival of Europeans with Tahitian healers as remedies to treat inflammation, abscesses, angina, diabetes, ranula, abdominal fibromas, and scorpion stings. In other parts of French Polynesia, noni fruit has been reportedly used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatism, backache, joint problems, hemorrhoids, skin allergies, burns and warts.
Today, noni is promoted as a dietary supplement for the immune system, digestive health, strength and energy, and aging skin.
Noni is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants help fight free radicals in the body and may help prevent the risk of chronic diseases.
Noni is rich in vitamin C and potassium.
Noni has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and tumor-fighting properties.
Noni may help promote heart health. Studies have shown that heavy cigarette smokers who consumed 6.4 ounces of noni juice per day for a month had significantly reduced their total cholesterol, bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and the inflammatory blood marker C-reactive protein levels.
Noni may help increase athletic endurance. A 3 week study of long distance runners who consumed 3.4 ounces of noni juice twice daily experienced a 21% increase in average time to fatigue, which suggests improved endurance.
Noni may also promote weight loss and boost your immunity. Noni may help repair cells in the body and activate the immune system.
Noni may not be suitable for people with kidney conditions due to its rich potassium content. There are reports of liver damage in people who consumed noni tea or juice for several weeks.
Noni may interact with certain medications.
As always consult with your physician.
