Did You Know That Dealing with Difficult People Can Age You Faster?

Dealing with Difficult People Can Age You Faster

There’s a study where it shows that dealing with difficult people can age you faster. Researchers found that people with more hasslers in their life or those “who create problems or make life more difficult," have a higher biological age compared to their actual chronological age.

In this study, overall, 28.8% of participants reported having 1 or more hassler or toxic people in their social network.

10% of participants had 2 or more hasslers or toxic people in their social network.

Women were more likely than men to have at least 1 hassler or toxic person in their social network.

More over, people who felt like others depend on them a lot were more likely to have hasslers or toxic people in their network.

Results have shown that each additional hassler or toxic person is associated with approximately 1.5% faster biological aging process and roughly 9 months of additional biological age among individuals of the same chronological age.

Participants who reported more toxic people in their life had worse mental health, higher levels of anxiety and depression, poor self-rated health and higher body mass indexes.

Having a toxic person will not only cause a reduced mental well-being and frustration but also accelerate aging and increased inflammation in the body and chronic stress.

So remember to have boundaries and put yourself first.
